My first movie experience was with Ram Gopal Varma’s “Satya”. The film began with two murders occurring pretty much back-to-back. As a young kid, two gunshots in two minutes were too much for me to handle at that age. I cringed in my seat so much that my mom had to take me out of the theater. However, as I grew older, I started watching mainstream Telugu movies featuring stars like Junior NTR, Balakrishna, and others. Alongside, I also watched Hindi movies like “The Legend of Bhagat Singh”, “Lagaan”, and “Munnabhai MBBS” at my mother’s insistence.
Gradually, I ventured into Bollywood movies while still keeping up with Telugu cinema. Before the pandemic, I often watched Tamil films dubbed in Telugu, such as “Ghajini” and “Rangam”, on TV. During the pandemic, my consumption of straight films, mainly Malayalam and Tamil, increased, and it has now become a habit. I’ve also indulged in documentaries like the one on the Radcliffe line. While my intake of Hollywood films isn’t as extensive as Hindi and Telugu cinema, I have seen a fair number of recent movies both in theaters and on OTT platforms. These include films like the “Avatar” series, “The Killers of The Flower Moon”, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, and “Little Women”.
